MD Law shortlisted in Yorkshire Legal Awards 2026

MD Law has been shortlisted in two categories in the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2026 which celebrates the region’s legal excellence across multiple disciplines.

The Yorkshire Legal Awards 2026, which celebrated its 27th year, takes place on 8 October with a black-tie ceremony and dinner at New Dock Hall in Leeds.

MD Law is up for two awards, Law Firm of the Year (Small), open to firms with 1 to 50 employees based in Yorkshire or earn up to £10 million in annual turnover nationwide; and Trainee Solicitor of the Year for lawyers across Yorkshire employed by a law firm or in-house legal team under a current training contract.

The Sheffield-based firm, with a national client portfolio, focuses on six specific practice areas, providing deep expertise setting it apart from larger, generalist firms.

Over the last 10 years it has expanded its presence and influence within the South Yorkshire, Yorkshire and national legal sector to compete directly with bigger competitors.

With 24 staff including 18 fee earners, 4 trainees and 2 support staff, though smaller in size, MD Law has been selective in its business and individual client intake, allowing it to focus on delivering specialised, personalised legal services from highly experienced staff.

It provides expert legal services in insolvency, litigation, dispute resolution, corporate and commercial, employment and commercial property matters to clients nationwide.

The Yorkshire Legal Awards is an annual event that recognises outstanding achievements in the legal sector across Yorkshire, covering everyone from corporate law firms to barristers, senior partners, rising stars, and in-house lawyers. Judging is conducted by an independent panel of legal experts from across Yorkshire.

Matthew Dixon, founder of MD Law said: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised for the first time in the Yorkshire Legal Awards. In the last 10 years, MD Law has struck an increasingly confident note in the market, and performed exceptionally well, in terms of establishing ourselves, approaching our chosen market creatively and effectively competing against far larger competition.”
